State government is a nice middle ground between federal and local governments. While the federal government has the widest reach and potential for impact, the enormity of it can be overwhelming and gridlock is far too common. On the other hand, local governments provide opportunity for faster-moving change and substantial responsibilities early in a career, but are somewhat limited in scale. Working for a state government can provide the best of both worlds一a more pragmatic/community approach with relatively large scale.

If you are interested in state government, this guide is for you! To inform our work, Second Day has spoken to experts in the field and gathered the best information out there for upcoming and recent graduates. First, the guide will take you through the  different entry-level positions to look out for in this field. Then, we’ll provide tips on actually getting those jobs in state government.
